Here are some opportunities year-round in the north Georgia area.


   There are two categories; Homeschool Art Classes which are tailored for the homeschooler with sessions offered in the morning and afternoon as well as evening, and Inclusive Art Classes that are usually afternoon, evening, and weekends.

Also, there are workshops and art camps that are offered throughout the year such as Clay, Block printing, Stone Sculpture, Clay Sculpture, Calligraphy, Painting On Location, and Watercolor, Felting Portfolio Builder for the middle schooler and high schooler who aspire to college.

* Student Requirements & Supply Lists for art classes:

 

1.A) Requirements for Drawing & Using Watercolors:

This class is for the serious and/or college-bound student. It is an on-going class that helps the artist build their portfolio & prepare for competitions, shows, and events like Bob Jones Unv. High School Festival.  Student must bring all items in the supply list at least by the second session he/she attends.  First time students may use supplies from my box.


1.B) Supply List for DUW (Drawing & Using Watercolors)

1.   art paper, preferably 9 X 12 spiral bound CANSON brand, XL MIX MEDIA series  

2.   Winsor & Newton Cotman Water Colour Compact Set of 14 Half Pans or
      for younger students, Crayola watercolor pans are fine.

3.   2B, #HB pencils  or 7mm mechanical pencil

4.   pink pearl eraser  

5.   kneaded eraser

6.   paint brushes (“round” size 10, “flat wash” brush 1/2, and an “oval wash” or “mop” brush)

7.   a container to store paint set flat in is important  

8.   good quality sharpener with cover (3.00 to 5.00 value)

9.   container for water: mason jar size or bigger

 

 

 

2.A) Requirements for Drawing Better:

Must have GOOD classroom etiquette (especially any time teacher is talking) and should bring supplies.  This class will approach drawing from a classical style regarding traditional techniques as well as study and practice newer approaches to drawing such as lessons from Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain where great observation is most important.  Charcoal and newsprint is used as well as other drawing mediums and

supports (papers).  Students are encouraged to bring to class work they have been working on at home or any other art class, and to bring in their own supplies to work with.

 

2.B) Supply list for Drawing Better:

·  art paper:   one Canson XL brand Drawing pad  9 X 12,
                   one Newsprint pad preferably 18 X 24                      

·  vine charcoal

·  large Kohinoor kneaded eraser

·  ebony pencil

·  pencil case

·  ziplock sandwhich bag to keep eraser in

·  ziplock sandwhich bag to keep sharpener in in case it ever spills

·  PITT artists marker brush pen, black

WORKSHOPS REWARDS:

1.) Anyone who enlists a friend who also registers for any workshop will be entered into another raffle for art supplies that will be raffled off sometime when school starts back. Raffle will be $50 or more in value.

2.) Each student will receive a certificate (age-appropriate) and a little something art related as a way of saying “thank you”.

1.) Sculpting with Polymer Clay,

Monday June 08– Friday 12  

9:00am-1:00pm

Friday 12 -Create and Prep for Exhibit.

Parents are invited to attend 12:00-1:00.

In exploring this bake-able clay, we will create jewelry beads, sculpture, a box, using molds and stamps and clay tools.



2.) Acrylic Painting,

$170,

5th -12th

Monday June 15 – Friday 19  

9:00am-1:00pm

Friday 19 - Create and Prep for Exhibit.

Parents are invited to attend 12:00-1:00.

We will learn about what makes a good painting; how to use composition, sketching your picture, choosing your palate by becoming familiar with the color wheel, and learn about different ways of applying the paint and proper care for tools.


3.) Cartooning,$100,

grades elementary to middle school

Monday June 22–Friday 26  

9:00am-1:00pm

Friday 26 - Create and Prep for Exhibit.

Parents are invited to attend 12:00-1:00.

Develop a character and learn what makes a good comic strip through story-boarding then create a 3-D version out of animator’s clay.



Come visit the Suwanee Arts In The Park.

May 16 & 17

Friday 15 we will be at the Suwanee park setting up our tent.

Saturday and Sunday come out and enjoy the fun through activities for kids all ages. Play Spin-the-Wheel and win goodies! Hang out and have fun creating works of art. Hope to see you there!  For more info: Suwanee Arts In the Park.

Update: The Year-Round Christmas Tree is held up in production. So I am not sure when the book might be published. Please pray for the Wasdens and their new adventure into publishing. Thanks to everyone for all the support and interest given to me for my part in illustrating it. I will let you know as soon as it's published. Meanwhile, enjoy other great children's books!
